Riga for Kids

Riga caters not only to adult tourists, but is a very attentive to its little residents and guests as well. Zoo, amusement parks, and circus are just some of the attractions that kids of all ages will love.

An ordinary walk around the Old Town and adjacent parks can become a little adventure. On weekends there are a lot of fairs or street concerts and other shows there. Kids and their parents can go boating along the canals or just feed ducks at the banks. In the downtown city’s parks there are playgrounds, trampolines, inflatable bouncers and kids’ cars for rent. One of these children open-air parks is Mezhapark (Forest Park). It has zoo, amusement park, and kid’s railroad and modern playground .In addition to parks are the Circus and Puppet Theatre as well as movie theatre named Forum Cinemas.

It is the home of more than 5000 animals from all over the world. It occupies 20 hectares in park on shore of the biggest Riga’s lake. The history of Riga Zoo is 100 years. Collection of mammals is 430 species in 3000 animals plus exotic reptiles, fantastic collection of birds, Aquarium, Terrarium and Tropical house. Some animals perfom funny tricks. Kids may play with domestic farm animals. You find here many learning games, horseback and carriage riding, merry-go-round and cafeteria.
